The Hult Center for the Performing Arts, designed by Hardy Holtzman Pfeiffer Associates with Theater Consultant, Robert Davis, opened in 1982. The Hult Center serves local
performing arts organizations and presents high-quality
performing arts tours to the community of Eugene, Oregon.
This performing arts center has two world-class concert
halls that book performances year around. The Silva
Concert Hall, which is home to the Eugene Symphony,
seats 2,500 patrons. The more intimate Soreng Theater
seats 500 people. Stagecraft provided the counter-weight
rigging system and stage draperies for both theaters.
Two
Oregon artists, who won Eugene’s city-sponsored
design competition, created the concept for the Silva
Concert Hall’s custom front curtain. These artists
were hired by Stagecraft to hand batik the raw fabric
panels prior to Stagecraft’s assembly of the front
curtain. After assembly, crystal baguettes were added
to the curtain as raindrops.
